What we know about Miranda
Homes
At the 2021 Census, 41.3% of occupied homes in Miranda were flats or apartments, 40.2% were separate houses and 17.4% were townhouses or semi-detached.
Orchards and poultry farms
Miranda was part of Thomas Holt's land between Sutherland and Cronulla. By 1923 it had five shops, returned First World War soldiers had settled there, and it was known as good fruit-growing and poultry country.
The Shire's post-war boom
The Sutherland Shire only became suburban Sydney in the early 1950s, after the Housing Commission began buying land there following the Second World War.
Commercial heart
Westfield Miranda, once Miranda Fair, sits beside the station, with apartment buildings along the Kingsway.
The jobs most likely in Miranda
Houses from the post-war decades. Many will need ridge, valley or gutter work by now.
Checking materials first. The NSW EPA says a house built before 1990 probably contains asbestos materials somewhere. Before anyone cuts old eaves or sheeting, see is my roof asbestos?
Units along the Kingsway. Roof leaks in a strata building go to the strata manager, who arranges the roofer for the owners corporation.
The coast question. Miranda isn't a beachfront suburb, so Cronulla's surf rules for steel rarely apply. If your street is close to salt water, have your roofer check BlueScope's marine distances before you choose a product.
Where we'd begin in Miranda
For a unit, it's a written note to strata. Give us the job and your postcode, and if a licence-checked roofer covers Miranda, we'll pass your contact details to that roofer only. If not, we'll tell you straight away.
Want a roofer to take a look?
Tell us the job and your postcode. We match it with a Find My Roofer certified roofer who specialises in that kind of work, and they call you to quote. Your number goes to them alone.
